IDEAS FOR YOUR WINTER TRIP

Ski holidays by train in Austria

A railway station is a starting point, not proof that every hotel or lift is walkable. Compare the full journey: train, final bus or transfer, luggage and the daily mountain connection. These Austrian destinations publish official rail or local-mobility information.

Plan the last connection before booking

Use a timetable for your actual arrival and departure dates. Check the last bus, luggage rules, walking distance with ski equipment and what happens if the train is late. Ask the accommodation whether collection is available and what it costs; do not assume a free shuttle.

The ski bus is a separate daily decision

Check which lift the bus serves and whether its first arrival matches your lesson. Guest-card and ski-pass transport rules can differ. Compare accommodation by the relevant stop, rental storage and evening return—not just distance from the railway station.

Places to consider—and what to check

Before you book

Does “without a car” mean a car-free resort?

No. These examples help you plan a trip without using your own car. They do not promise that the resort bans cars, that all routes are accessible on foot or that transport is included.
